Its a step in the right direction
D. MCKICHAN
I consider myself to be more of a technophile then photographer. Every year I seem to have a new camera, as manufacturers add megapixels, zoom, video, HD video, etc. .. for what I bought the year before the same price on the spot. I collected enough photography skills over the years just playing with my new toys each year to have a moderate position of photography today. Cameras are also used for part of my job, where resoulution, zoom and the ability to quickly obtain the target is important. The progress of technology only in the last 3-4 years are surprising in that it can be done with a small camera and the price you pay for it.
Who said that the T1i was my choice this year for my update. (Last year was the Olympus E-510 that I had a big as a model for years and years before a Panasonic FZ18). Being able to take pictures and video was a big plus for me, at work and at home during the shooting. The FZ18 is still the staple of my work, even though today most FZ35 last two years is looking attractive. As for what the Panasonic bridge cameras can make a good outdoor lighting, is very similar to what one of my DSLR can do, and I would say the same thing for zooming out. If you are looking for a great walk around external camera to take pictures and video with the light of day I would recommend Panasonic handsdown series and will be shut down several hundred dollars ahead. The upper level superzoom bridge cameras now have many of the manual functions of the DSLR to do and to do some ’shooting burst nice as well. Panasonic video is decent.
DSLR that will give you much better indoor, portrait, and shooting LowLight. It also allows you to implement and make better use of advanced capabilities. The trade off is the highest price of the body, the greater the body / lens, slow, expensive, flash, etc. … N. DSLR accessory is cheap. The DSLR will also require a better understanding of photography and especially the depth of field, shutter speed, etc. ..
The T1i is a camera with a nice screen and easy to understand menu. The kit I’d say that goal is just OK. The quality of construction of the machine body (according to the feeling in his hand, Heft, and visual inspection) it seems better then the entry level Nikon and Canon XS, but my E-510 seems to be a more solidly built unit. The same goes for the kit lens with any brand of kit lenses are all great, but I think that the Olympus lenses take photos. However, there are several optional lenses for the Canon or Canon and third-party sources. How Amazon had a good price when I bought the package T1i, I also took the 55-250mm IS lens, which I prefer over the kit supply. (I also have the basic 70-300mm Olympus lens, which is similar to the price of the Canon 55-250mm, and it seems once again to have a better build in the same price range.)
Closed ISO range, Canon has a better then the E-510, but both take pictures that look very detailed and there is little or nothing between their marked difference in sound quality wise lighting indoors or with Flash technology. Outdoors in low light the Canon beats Oly. The Canon also has a better autofocus system, and focuses better in low light conditions. Intervals Zoom I think the difference is obvious as a 5 megapixel camera with Canon lens 250 mm to solve the same level of detail at full zoom as it does with the Olympus 300 millimeters fully maximized (ie a zoom equivalent to 400 millimeters a 600mm, then I think that is impressive.) is to provide a better picture of the FZ18 when you hit the shot, but I think the auto mode for novice shooters camera bridge provides more consistent results then the DSLR’s. Part of this is possible when you get a good pic DSLR you really know, and when it is a little ‘out, it is easy to see that is missing that pop “DSLR”. These up close or zoom in “portraits” in which a photographer is really too much new to see the difference when you switch to a DSLR. And that lack of image noise due to larger sensors. (If this is a family buying the camera and is thought rarely with a tripod, I always recommend getting one with image stabilization in the camera body, like the Olympus or make sure you are getting the Canon IS lenses and those without. It really makes a big difference in what you can do with the camera as a novice or amateur photographer.)
As a camera T1i is an excellent choice especially if you are getting your first DSLR. If still pictures are only its main concern, but I would say that you can not get a DSLR like the Xsi or E-620 and spend the price difference on the lenses better. The T1i is the same price I paid for my E-510, the kit comes with two lenses, and 70-300mm zoom. I know that some of the differences I mentioned above are partly due to the difference in the pattern 2 years in cameras and such differences would be reduced to less expensive camera model year.
Video however was one of the main reasons I went with the T1i. There are some moments that are beautiful to capture with video and audio and then not only still photos alone. That you can now have the ability to do so in a limited way, while the picture quality getting from DSLR is great. Bring a camera is better then take two to do the same thing. The video would rate T1i as ‘OK’ for what it is. That makes shooting indoors with low noise and then a camera with smaller sensors are, but lack of interior lighting still hurts like all digital cameras. I do not know if a light Canon hot shoe would work on T1i or not. If so, I’d give props Canon. Outdoors in good light does it better. Where DSLR gives you lots of variety in how the recovery of photos is limited to being able to do the same thing now with the video. A service of dedicated HD camcorder will be even better for taking shots of scenes in which large and rapidly changing range and where you need to shoot long sessions at once. The T1i are not designed to shoot video for long periods because of heat generation that degrades the image quality and the manual will probably give a warning of overheating after about an hour of extended use, and I think we can close the camera at down. (I think the same thing would happen if you set the camera in Live View mode for so long, as well). Thus was created on a tripod to record tell your kids to play basketball, is not what it is capable of doing. If you’re like me, though, and found that most videos you shoot events of each day is a few minutes of time at best, this work. I was with the video 720p most of the time, like the 1080 does not handle well the bike. I also discovered that a class 6 card or better (once again as the manual) is necessary for a good 720p video. (a class 4 will work but you notice dropped frames and artefacts from his inabilty to keep pace with the flow of data. Class 4 for works still going pretty well although it may reduce some shooting burst length).
I gave this camera 5 stars because it is really for what you pay for. It has limitations in video mode, but considering what you get for about $ 750 in this unit compared to the same amount of money that just 2-3 years ago, I think it’s a great camera. HD video requires great still photos, and OK. If you have a DSLR that is 2-3 years and are still primarily interested in the photos, not to say that I upgrade. And like I said above, even if this is your first camera and not worry about the movie are the cheapest option for larger images. If this is your first DSLR and want the opportunity to do some video (the same for the upgrade) there is nothing better out there right now and this is definitely the way to go. Torn between this and an HD camera that will continue to have the pictures I would say that the video shoot T1i (with in its boundaries) is a much better solution then the photos have a secondary camera takes. I have a nice HD camera for a trip before and on the basis of her photos again and it would be like what T1i offers more, even taking into account the size larger than T1i.
Update: One month and still getting a lot of use out of the camera. More photos of the birth chart then the E-510 has stayed on the shelves. Have used it to record programs and 3 xmas xmas events in one day. The video was very good as well as still images. Switch from video to still images is easy and it was a great thing to have in any case, I took a.
