I wanted to go SLR. Having had several years ago a reflex silver Canon has slept in a cupboard with the profile of a simple digital camera, for purely economic price of film and developments. But the difference in picture quality had always said that I would return to the reflex one day. The opportunity presented itself. I was informed in relation to use my very amateur photography, while still wishing to have their hands in something sturdy. Special friends called me one, so among other things you can re-use the Canon telephoto lens that I drive the silver. By cons I was clearly told to take the pack with 18-55 bcp that is more optimized for digital that would have been my silver 18-55.
There are currently served quepour photos of parties, but the result is perfect. We are thinking now to make purchases to complete (Flash. ..).

Excellent quality / price as usual. Thank you Amazon.
Need we say more. Tests conducted on sites specializing in talking the better. It fits perfectly with my use, as an amateur.
Beyond that all functions have almost APN is the ergonomics could tip the balance. In my case the camera is comfortable and much better than the 400d and 450d. It is light. Only regret the grip, a little too tight to take if you have giant hands. But it is cleared through the leather cover that prevents the camera to slip from the hands, unlike 1000d.
Voia, otherwise it is perfect.

Introduction to the great DSLRs

The T1i (500D to me and the rest of the world) is my first DSLR camera. My digital camera was Olympus ‘570UZ pre-500D, Canon PowerShot S70 and the (almost vintage!) Powershot S110. Given my lack of experience with DSLR, I obviously would have no real basis of the world, to compare the 500D DSLR others.

With that disclaimer out of the way, let me say unequivocally that I am absolutely thrilled with the quality of photos taken with the 500D, especially at night.

I love photography and the night was a continual source of frustration for me that point and-shoot, even advanced point-and-shoots like 570UZ or the S70, each have so-so performance night photography, even in manual mode in which allowed to choose the ISO, shutter speed and aperture. The 500D convincingly erased that frustration. In fully automatic mode, it takes absolutely goregous picture night at high ISO (usually 800 and, occasionally, @ 1600) and a shutter speed very fast, with even a hint of noise or blurring. (One guy I talked to on the ability of night photography of the 500D and Nikon D5000 said to have found the Canon one more capable shooter night. I took his word with a grain of salt. Now, I absolutely believe him!) If there is a problem with the capabilities of night 500D automatic is that it tends to illuminate the scene, which may not be what you want in certain situations. (For the types of photos, I recommend “manual”?)

(Note: I finally got around to posting pictures night sample taken during a recent trip to Madrid. Please do not view the pictures to see what I mean.)

I consider myself a mid-level amateur (I understand the concepts of shutter speed, ISO, aperture, white balance, etc.), but have not fully learned to manipulate the different variables of large (er) effect. The 500D, however, makes it easy to learn. The menu is (more or less) intuitive and clearly drawn (non-technical) English. The “Creative Auto” mode provides a good example of the use of simple, descriptive English.

The LCD screen (@ 920,000 pixels) is amazing. I compared the screen with the 500D in my 570UZ (@ 230,000 pixels) and the difference between the two are really two separate worlds.

The 500D, however, is not as comfortable as my first 570UZ. Furthermore, the purpose kit that comes with the 500D lacks the close-ups and zoom capability of my 570UZ. (The 570UZ can take sharp pictures with the lens of less than 1 cm from the edge of the object being photographed. Try that with the 500D kit equipped with the goal … it can not be.) That leads to a drawback of digital SLRs. .. having to buy separate lenses in order to make really close-up and / or Super zoom picture. Finally, the 500D is, of course, much heavier than an ordinary point and shoot.

I have not used the video mode (for video, I recommend buying a dedicated video recorder is not a DSLR).

To summarize, the two main reasons why I love this camera:

1. Stunning LCD
2. Equally stunning photography skills at night, even in full automatic!

Canon’s new EOS 500D, DSLR APS-C size 15 MP

Canon (company founded in 1937 in Tokyo) presented a few hours ago the world the new EOS 500D, a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) in APS-C (Advanced Photo System type-C) from 15.1 effective megapixels. The new Canon DSLR Japanese can also record movies in HD at 1080p (20 fps), has 3-inch LCD from 920 thousand points and a sensitivity expandable up to 12800 ISO. As graphics processor are the same model Digivice’s sister EOS 50D.

Alongside the introduction of the new DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) EOS 500D, Canon has also unveiled a new flash that is part of the series Speedlite 270 EX. At the moment we have no information on price, maybe tomorrow we will know more as this evening is scheduled a press event which will illustrate all the news that Canon has already made overseas a few hours ago.

Canon 500D Review

With the introduction of the 1000D Canon 500D can integrate some new features to more conscious photo enthusiasts who like a larger viewfinder and spot metering.

From the general point of view can be defined as a review of the Canon 450D with the sensor of the Canon 50D. Resolution of 15 megapixels, 1080p video mode, screen 920,000 pixel VGA resolution and DIGIC IV.

The conclusion about a well-balanced camera as features though perhaps a bit ‘more expensive than direct competition in these times of crisis. As we have said the resolution of 15 megapixels requires investing in quality objectives to fully exploit the sensor.

The picture quality is good up to 1600 ISO, but from 3200 onwards ISO noise issues are becoming heavier. The camera has a tendency to overexpose light and is therefore always important to check the exposure.

Live View is very slow in focusing and therefore less exploitable in many occasions outside the studio. The video mode does not yet have the manual controls recently introduced on the Canon 5D Mark II.

For owners of Canon 450D upgrade makes sense only if you use the new features, while everyone else is a good reflex.

Canon has introduced its new digital SLR camera Canon EOS 500D!

The announcement had been expected for some time and this time the expectations were not disappointed.

In summary the innovations introduced by Canon EOS 500D:
The sensor is always in the APS-C size (1.6x magnification factor), but its resolution increases to 15mpx (like the older sister Canon EOS 50D). The processor that handles images is the Digic IV, which promises a burst of 3.4 frames per second (for a maximum of 170 shots in jpg format) and improved management of digital noise. ISO sensitivity from the value of ISO 100 to get up to ISO 3200 (expandable to 12,800 ISO).

It ‘was implemented the ability to record Full HD video at 1080p (with the ability to set a lower quality to 720p or even VGA). In 1080 how movies are recorded at 20 fps (30 fps passing at lower resolutions).

The LCD screen (not to, as some voice had made him think before submission) measure 3 inches and has a resolution of no less than 920,000 dot. The high resolution allows to evaluate with great care the focus of the images both before and after shooting (that is, the Canon 500D provides a live view on the LCD instead of the viewfinder for example, macro shots).

The focus uses 9-point AF in the central-type cross. The range of work-focus ranges from -0.5 to +18 EV. The meter can measure light-mode 35-zone evaluative (linked to the AF point in use), semi-commercial (9% of the ratios), spot (4% of the area ratios) and the weighted average center. The range of work dell’esposimetro part from 1 to 20 EV.

Since the Canon 500D equipped with an APS-C size sensor, is compatible with all Canon lenses on the market (either EF or EF-S).

The flash in this Canon 500D has a guide number of 13 and can cover the angle of a lens 17 mm (eq. 27 mm). Time to flash sync is 1 / 200 of a second. Obviously the camera is able to work with all external flashes series Speedlites Canon.

Memory cards used are those of SD (also of type HC).

The size of the 500D is 129 x 98 x 62 mm. Its weight is 480 grams.

The list price expected for the European market at the time of presentation is of 863 euros for the body only, 966 euros for the kit with the EF-S 18-55 IS, Euro 1386 with the objective 18-200 IS.
